Damon, and I went to the Inauguration in January. I finally took the time to edit some photos. I took almost 1200 shots when I was there.
We did not go to bed the night before. Trying to get prepared to go we just ran out of time to sleep. It was okay though, the adrenaline was running full speed.
Damon and I began our Journey together. Unfortunately, it did not stay that way. We decided that if we got separated we would meet at the Washington Monument. First of all, if you are going to meet somewhere; make it a specific place. 'The Washington Monument' is to broad of an area to meet. We should have said the MD flag at the Washington Monument or something along those lines.
So anyway, we got separated. Our phones didn't work, circuits were so busy, and then our phones died. We were separated from about 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. It was horrible. Mainly the not knowing what was going on with him and him not knowing what was going on with me. The 2nd most horrible thing about us being separated? He had my telephoto lens. =(
Eventually we just kind of ran into each other at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. It was so great to see his face!
They shut the Metro stations down because the trains were so overbooked with people. We were at L'Enfant Plaza around 1:30 pm and didn't get onto a train until about 7:45 pm. That was after walking to 5 other stations we finally hopped on a train at Union Station.
It was truly a memorable event. Even though Damon and I were separated all day it was great just being there and experiencing the buzz of all the people, and the thrill in the air.
Enjoy my photographic evidence of the event!!!
